About the event
NOMA’s Ultrasound For The Lower Extremity: Sonoanatomy and Guided Interventions
NOMA’s 4th hands-on workshop and the first fully focused on ultrasound anatomy and guided interventions will include 16 hours of CE, 12 hours of which will be direct hands-on instruction from musculoskeletal ultrasound experts.
The workshop will take place on March 18-19 in the Neil Riordan Center for Regenerative Medicine at Sonoran University of Health Sciences in Tempe, Arizona.
The days will be broken down so that there is ample time for learning the basic sonoanatomy for each area of the lower extremity as well as the most common ultrasound-guided injection techniques. There will be a segment of time at the end of the weekend to review any area the participants would like to review.
NOMA Guarantees a participant:instructor ratio of no more than 4:1.
This workshop is open to all licensed physicians. We are not currently opening our workshops to students of any kind.
We will be using each other as models for the imaging and injections. We will be using saline as the injection solution. We will NOT be diagnosing or treating any pathology of the participants.
Lodging and accomodations are the responsibility of the participant. Breakfast and Lunch will be available each day to purchase from the in-house cafe.
Below are resources to use to learn and practice prior to the workshop if possible. This workshop will only scratch the surface of ultrasonography for those that are new to it and the resources below will provide a way to further develop one’s skills before and after the workshop. Ultrasound expertise takes hundreds of hours of practice and study so a weekend course will never be sufficient to master it. However, the intention with this workshop is to provide the foundation and the framework to learn key sonoanatomy and guided intervention techniques.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify normal anatomy of key areas in each joint/area: hip, knee, foot/ankle.
- Utilize dynamic evaluation of structures when appropriate.
- Perform ultrasound guided interventions using the proper approach and sonographic plane for several targets within each joint/area: hip, knee, foot/ankle.
